What is Soft Tissue Therapy
A: A Soft Tissue Therapist uses manual therapy techniques to treat injury and pain.
Soft Tissue Therapists assess and treat workplace, lifestyle and sporting injuries. This manual therapy treatment (with the hands) includes massage techniques, exercise prescription and where appropriate other trained modalities such as Myofascial Dry Needling or Cupping. Machines such as ultrasound or interferential are not used.
Soft Tissue Therapy is claimable with Private healthcare under ‘Remedial Massage’.
What is Exercise Physiology
A: An Exercise Physiologist is an Allied Health Provider specialised in treating a range of chronic and acute conditions through exercise prescription.
Exercise Physiologists are the experts in Exercise Prescription. They work in our purpose-built gyms within our Clinics. Their service is one on one. They don’t leave you; they are always by your side watching and guiding you.
In some circumstances, they are Medicare Rebateable (EPC programs – see your GP for details – read here).
Can I claim my private health insurance at Clinic 88?
A: Yes.
Please check with your health care provider on the specifics of your coverage. Soft Tissue Therapy is covered under the Remedial Massage allowance only. You cannot use your Physiotherapy allowance for massage treatment with Clinic 88. Each fund contributes a different amount to each allowance and is subject to contractual changes. Not all funds are compatible with HICAPS claims. If unsure please call your health fund to enquire.
Recent Health Care Legislation (Oct 2017) **Remedial Massage will continue to be claimable under your Private Health Care packages into 2019 and beyond.
What is an EPC program?
A: An EPC program is an ‘Enhanced Primary Care’ program that is delivered by our Exercise Physiologists. They are Medicare rebateable care programs for chronic health conditions and need to be administered by your GP. For more information on how it works, please click here.
